Me, Michael, and the kids were very excited to know my family was coming in from out of town. We had been sharing the news with everyone about how we were so ready to see family. It turned out to be a great day!  We would have been so disappointed if they hadn’t showed up. I was like a child counted down the minutes and looking out the window.  On Thanksgiving day we had a great dinner we ate plenty of desserts while we waited for others to arrive. The day was cool so after we ate again that evening, Michael and my brother Martin started up the fireplace, it just seemed the perfect look for a back ground so we took out the cameras. Here are some pictures of our family.      Picture of us girls is really blury, just want to share the story behind that.

The fire crackled as we for posing for a picture and my oldest sister just about came out of her skin, we held her down, we laughed so hard it was great. I thank God for his son Jesus, family, my wonderful husband who has to put up with my crazy familia(just kidding fam), my beautiful children. We are blessed in so many ways don’t know where to end, church, new friends, and existing friends.

Hope you had a Blessed holiday.

Sad Day

We recieved news last night that Michael’s cousin Anselmo(Chemo)passed away yesterday afternoon. Michael took it very hard because he and his cousin had a very close relations. Distance kept them apart but they always kept in touch. Both Michael and Anselmo grew up in the same household. I got to see some recontructive work done on walls, when they would wrestle or fight, from what his grandfather use to say someone always ended up in the wall. I want to say Michael was probably the one getting beat. Sorry honey!!! Just because Chemo was older.

He was one of the most amazing men I know, he loved our children as if they were his. He spoiled us all very much. We always looked forward to taking trips to his house.

Chemo was 55 years old, such a young age. I know in my heart that he is in heaven and now looking down on us.

To all of our friends and family, thank you for all your prayers and kind words to the Ramirez family.

We mourn his death and will miss him much. We love u Chemo.

Women’s retreat/week November 16, 2008

retreat123

Last weekend I went to a women’s retreat with my church that we attending back in San Angelo. The retreat was at Miller ranch near Abilene Tx, I think, all I know is that it’s out in middle of no where. But that’s where I needed to be. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. A few minutes after I arrived I went for a walk near the pond and suddenly God just started speaking into my spirit. He revealed to me my fears. Fear of leaving my family behind.

As most people know I lost my Mom in a car accident back in 04′. I saw my Mother for the last time that rainy wednesday morning. Not the greatest way to say goodbye. However I thank God everyday I had the opportunity to do so. Well ever since then every time I, or Michael and I would go on a trip together I constantly had this fear of never seeing my husband or my children again(it is a horrible feeling or fear whatever you want to call it). Anyway on my way to the retreat I didn’t want to tell my friends how I was feeling but when we got there I had some alone time, just me and God. As I was praying within my spirit I clearly  heard him say…SYLVIA YOU NEED TO TRUST ME. I couldn’t hold back tears, the creator of the universe taking time just to speak to me.

May sound silly but that was a struggle for me. That was just one of the things God dealt with me about.

I am a work in progress. God is still working in my life.

We started a 21 day fast 2 weeks ago and it’s been an awesome experience. I know God has something really great in store for GFC. Our pastor has an awesome vision for our church and surrounding community. I pray that God will continue to give him wisdom to carry out this vision God has placed in his heart for our church.

Well I’m not trying to sound really spiritual and all but that how my weekend went. If we trust Him, He will cast out our fears.

Thank you 1st Assembly for letting me tag along and thank you Delana for putting such a great event together. Here are some pic’s of the retreat. Oh yeah we had an awesome high heel relay-funnnnnny!

Family day November 4, 2008

We headed out to Ft. Worth on saturday and decided we would go out to eat at JOE T. Garcia’s(great mexican restaurant off of main st. It was a great experience, after that we drove into Grapevine and went to the mall for a little while, just had to get a quick fix since I hadn’t been to the mall for a while. After that we went on to Southlake and took Nate & Aly to watch High School Musical. Not only did the kids enjoy the movie but the area was fantastic, after that we met up with Jerry, Lisa and the girls at Central Market where we had dinner and heard live music while the kids were enjoying themselves in the playground. When we were getting in the car I asked Michael, can you believe we are here? I still miss home alot like tonight when the house get’s real quite, but we are having a great time together as a family.

Tonight we were having devotion around the table and sharing with the kids about how not to store treasure’s on earth and expaining the scripture and how it is ok not to have everything they want, and that we might not alway to buy everything they want, and she replies in this sweet thinkable voice and say’s…..that’s ok mommy that’s why it’s good we can loose teeth so that the toothfairy can bring us money. We couldn’t help but to laugh out loud. Kid’s they are really great, that’s why we love them so much. We thank God for his provisions every day.

Hair day/Daraja-African children’s choir October 23, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — firstladyslr @ 3:43 am

I’m so excited about my blog now I’m just writing about anything and everything. I started by getting my hair cut and colored, my stylist did a fabulous job(thanks Lisa…eres la bomba.

Tonight at Grace Fellowship we had an awesome African children’s choir, we packed out the house with 750 people. The children ministered in scripture, song, and dance, it was amazing. It was an honor to help serve in such a small way. Nathan was very touch I think he wanted to bring all home. He was reminded of how fortunate he was of having a bed, and a meal to eat. Alyanna just fell in love with their dancing and bright smiles.

It also reminded me of how selfish I’ve been of leaving family behind, These 9 and 10 year old children have left mom’s, dad’s, sibling to also answer the call. I am very humbled.

Here are a few pics.
